AVOID THE SUMMER TIME BLUES
& IGNITE YOUR CHILD'S CREATIVITY
AVOID THE SUMMER TIME BLUES & IGNITE YOUR CHILD'S CREATIVITY
AVOID THE SUMMER BREAK BLUES &
IGNITE YOUR CHILD'S CREATIVITY
Last summer was ROUGH... for me and my kids.
We were in the middle of a big move from Texas to Oregon with a 6-week pit stop in Utah. My husband and I had to find a new home, nurture a budding business, and deal with our fifth move in under five years.

Our plate was piled high which meant our kids spent WAY too much time on their devices.

Meanwhile, I was drowning in mom guilt.
That's because 'Summer Learning Loss' is real, guys.
  •  Studies show that up to 2 ½ months of reading and math skills can be lost during the summer months.
  •  Each year, teachers spend anywhere from 4-6 weeks re-teaching material just to get kids caught up after the break.
  •  What's worse is that the loss is cumulative. By the time a child reaches middle school, they've lost the equivalent of 2 years!
  •  And that gap keeps getting worse with time.

But unless you've got lots of time, money, and know-how it's hard finding something that gets you and your kids excited.

We've tried summer camps. Super expensive, inconsistent results.

We tried online programs and educational games. The kids found them boring, and I didn't love the extra screen time.
So I dusted off my teacher's hat and got to work to create something AWESOME. Something that would:
  •  Spark my kids' innate creativity.
  •  Find organic ways to keep them reading, writing, and using their math skills.
  •  Give me structure during those long summer hours so I didn't go completely insane.
  •  Motivate my kids to engage with the world (not just their screens) and have FUN.
  •  Be flexible enough to adapt to our inconsistent summer schedule.
I'm happy to say: This summer will be different.

"This is a parent's dream, but I think my kids are even more excited than I am!"
- Anna M.
HOW IT WORKS
Discover The Theme.
Each week your child will be introduced to a new theme and given five short (and FUN) video tutorials that feature a simple daily project for them to work on. Rather than rote memorization, lame worksheets, or copy-cat crafts, our goal is to get your child thinking, creating, and making connections in the world.
Create.

Daily projects build upon one another and encourage independent thought and innovation. With a few basic art supplies and a lot of imagination, your child will create stories, solutions, and ideas worth sharing. Projects also encourage essential skills like math & reading through an integrated approach that mimics real life.
Get Featured, Earn Prizes.
Students can share their completed projects for a chance to win prizes and get featured in our weekly "High Five" community building video. Our supportive environment helps kids cheer each other on and get honored for their work.
Keep At It.

Since you get access to all videos and resources for a full year, you can revisit the training as much as you like. If you have a vacation planned or an unusually busy week, you can adapt the schedule to work for you. Our included activity tracker and badge system help you stay on top of it all.
"I was in search of an engaging, flexible, fun way to keep my daughter's mind active this summer while allowing her space for regulation, and Munga Punga is the answer to my prayers!"
- Jeni D.

FAQs
What makes Munga Punga so special?

Your child. Our projects are merely vehicles for igniting your child's innate creativity. Unlike so many other online programs or workbooks, our projects help kids explore their individuality, learn how to problem-solve, and use their reading, writing, and math skills in organic ways that speak to their passions.

And then there's the community. Through sharing of our final projects, a little friendly competition, and a model that celebrates ALL ideas -- your child will feel like they're part of something bigger.
How old do participants need to be?

The program is designed for those who have finished kindergarten through fifth grade. Project modifications will be offered so kids can participate at whatever level they are at to keep them engaged and motivated.

We've had several people ask if their bright four-year-olds could participate. And as long as the parent is willing to help and modify as needed, they should be able to enjoy the overall structure of the program.
Tell me more about the prizes. How will those work?

While the main focus of the program is to celebrate the children and their creations, we know some kids get motivated when there are prizes to be won.

All children who complete the week's assignment can enter the weekly drawing. At least three winners will be selected randomly each week. Winners get to choose between a variety of prize options.

To qualify, parents can upload an image/video of the completed project to Instagram and tag us OR submit via email. Prizes will be shipped to U.S. citizens only.

In addition to the weekly winners, we'll feature a dozen or more of our favorite projects each week in our "High Five" community building video.

What if we're going to be gone for part of the program?

Summer schedules can be tricky. We get it. We specifically designed this 8-week challenge to be as flexible as you need. Each project has a lot of fluidity to cater to the schedules of those involved. Should you need to skip a week or two, no biggie! Prizes are given out on a project by project basis. If you'll be gone during any of the weeks, simply skip the material and join us when you get back.

Remember, you have access to the materials for a full year. You can always go back and work through any projects you missed, or repeat them on a rainy day.
Do you offer any scholarships?

We've worked hard to make this program as affordable as possible, but we also understand that financial situations can be tricky. We do offer scholarships based on financial need. We want ALL children to have an opportunity to participate. If you'd like more information on our scholarship process, please email us at support@mungapunga.com.
Do you offer refunds?

Our number one goal is to provide the BEST experience at an affordable price. We've put a lot of love, sweat, tears, and resources into making sure The Summer of Creativity is worth so much more than your investment.

Still, we understand that no single program can meet every expectation. If you participate in the first two weeks of the program and find yourself unsatisfied, simply contact us by June 30th for a full refund. No questions asked.
What supplies do I need?

Because we know everyone has their own schedule, budget, and resources we want to make this event as inclusive and flexible as possible. No need for fancy supplies, as we encourage kids to work with what they've got.

With that said, things like access to paper, pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, tape/glue, or other basic art supplies will help kids get their creative juices flowing. We also recommend creating a "junk" box with things that could be used for projects. Things like boxes, pieces of fabric, and empty containers are great to have around when creativity sparks.
How much time do the projects take to complete?

We designed our projects to be flexible because we know how summer schedules are. One week you're dying to fill up those hours. Other weeks you're stuffed to the max with things to do. Since this summer program is project-based, you can be as minimalistic or elaborate as you like. In addition, our handy parent's guide will give you tips and ways to expand the activities should you have a lot of time on your hands.

On average, we imagine the weekly projects will take between 1 - 3 hours to complete over the course of the week. Ultimately, it depends on the child and how long they want to spend on each project. We break things up into bite-sized chunks because we know attention spans aren't long for many kids, and because we want to keep them learning in a "little but often" way.
What is the difference between the family pass and a single child registration?

The family pass is designed for families with two or more elementary aged children living in the same house who want to participate in the program.

We know that having more kids can be a strain on the budget, so instead of charging for each child, we have developed the family pass to make it more accessible. The price difference between a single pass and the family pass allows us to curate and review additional projects and ensure all K-5 children in your household are eligible for prizes.

We ask that any friends, neighbors or extended family enroll separately. All materials are subject to copyright and should not be shared with anyone who hasn't registered.
What does "Munga Punga" mean?

Our daughter Cami is a creative soul who has always loved art, projects, and ideas. One day, when she was four years old, she walked into the living room and handed Mom, Dad, and brother Dax a set of cool, funky hats she had made.

"Munga Punga," she said. Leave it to Cami to create a word to best describe her creations.

Since then, Munga Punga has been an ongoing celebration of creativity and childhood in our home. We're so excited to share the spirit of it with you.
